Catherine Anne O'Hara OOC was born March 4, 1954. O'Hara is the proud winner of many awards that include a Genie Award. In 2018, O'Hara was appointed as an Officer of Canada. She was also presented with the Governor General’s Performing Arts Lifetime Artistic Achievement Medal in 2020. O'Hara was first noticed as an actress in 1974 when she was an actor in The Second City improvisational comedy troupe in Toronto. Together with John Candy (1975-1978), she was part of the main casting for the sitcom Coming Up Rosie (1975-1978). O'Hara joined Candy on the sketch comedy show Second City Television (1976-1984). She won the attention of critics both for her writing and acting skills, and was awarded the Primetime Emmy Award, 1981, for Outstanding Writing for Variety Series. In 2022, O'Hara was added to the new Second City artistic advisory board led by Stephen Colbert, along with Steve Carell, Dwayne Colbert, Tina Fey, Keegan-Michael Key, Julia Louis-Dreyfus Jane Lynch, Tim Meadows, Peter Murrieta, Suzy Nakamura Sam Richardson, Jeff Richmond, Jason Sudeikis, and Robin Thede.
