Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was a businesswoman, investor and speaker from the United States. The Corcoran Group is a New York City-based real-estate brokerage. In 2001, the company was sold to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran quit the firm within a short time. Corcoran is one of ABC’s first Shark Tank investors. Since her inception she has appeared on every 12 season of Shark Tank. In February of 2020, she has made 53 deals on the show, the largest one being $350,000 for 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second child in the family of 10 children who was born in Edgewater. Florence, her mother was an errand-taker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. her father was a skilled worker throughout Corcoran's early years. The family relied on the food provided by the local grocer who would deliver free food. Corcoran recalls her father as one who often drank too much and did her mother a disservice and sneer, especially when he was drinking. Corcoran was a troubled student in school. Later, she discovered she was dyslexic. Corcoran started high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after having attended an Catholic elementary school. Corcoran, who had failed numerous classes in her first year of high school, was moved to Leonia High School. There she received a grade of D.
